"At Proef, we are deeply committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We have decided to align ourselves with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to contribute to reducing carbon emissions and combating climate change actively. Setting science-based targets represents an opportunity to build long-term business sustainability, protecting the planet and communities while safeguarding future profitability. We are committed to the SBTi initiative, believing that a low-carbon economy will drive innovation and catalyze the development of new technologies and operational practices. We aim to establish our goals based on credibility and transparency, supported by the collective responsibility that this challenge entails. This commitment reflects our dedication to integrating sustainable practices into all our operations, driving innovations that simultaneously benefit business, society, and the planet."

What is our commitment?

Minimizing environmental impact is one of the main actions companies should take to mitigate global warming, combat climate change, and contribute to the decarbonization of the economy and society. Proef has committed to the international "Net Zero" initiative, aligning with the European Union's goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its territory by 2050. The Science Based Targets initiative is fundamental to this process.

What are the Science Based Targets?

Science-based targets provide a clear pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Targets are considered 'science-based' if they align with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

What is the SBTi?

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) defines and validates these science based targets. This initiative, an alliance between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), identifies and promotes innovative approaches to setting ambitious and meaningful corporate greenhouse gas reduction targets.

What is our strategic vision and objectives?

In alignment with our strategic vision of Mobilizing the community for a more sustainable future and driving innovation, we commit to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. This includes setting short- and long-term reduction targets according to a 1.5°C trajectory.
